What is a Pre-Shred?

Well, I’m at it again. Pre-shred mode. For long-time readers, you know that I dig working out and building muscle. The problem is every time I get into a good routine, I decide to travel halfway around the world and it throws me for a loop! LOL. A few days away from the gym, turns into weeks, turns into months and the next thing you know, I’m back at square one. I was at my strongest EVER in November 2008, after sticking to a program designed by world natural bodybuilding champion, Carlos DeJesus. And now, all my muscle gains are gone! Or hopefully just dormant. So I’m back at it on Monday because I REALLY do miss feeling strong.

For those not in the know, “shredding” means to cut fat and build muscle and a “pre-shred” is the planning stage leading up to starting a program. This is soooooo important because you know what they say – “if you fail to plan, plan to fail.” This time around I’m using Adam Water’s RTP Transformation program because (a)  I know Adam and I know that he’s put a LOT of planning, research, blood, sweat and tears into designing this WHOLE body approach, (b) he’s proven it really works (just check out his before and after pictures) and most importantly (c) unlike most fitness programs, he addresses the mental and emotional aspect so necessary to be successful on any physical level because (and this is key) it is ALL CONNECTED. The outer self is a reflection of the inner self and if your head and heart aren’t straight, then any physical transformation just ain’t gonna stick.

Right now, I’m doing the written exercises in Module 1, 2 and 3 – writing out the forgiveness statements, answering the PRW questions and outlining my mission parameters. I’ll fill in the body stat form on Day 1 which is Monday March 30. I’ve read through Modules 4, 5, 6 and 7 and will go through it again this weekend in my free time just to make sure I have good understanding of it all. On Monday morning, all systems GO!

    I am in the same boat. I was strongest July 08 then I went to college and it all "went dormant" then I went back home for winter break and I beat my old records. Back in college again and my arms have again turned to string beans. Yesterday was the start of my 'build muscle without animal products' campaign that I have prepared. Wishing you the best of luck! I now need to check out that RTP site.

    Six of us have formed a group in the RTP-Transformation private forum and we are all starting simultaneously on Monday. You should join us! Joining a group is SUPER motivating because we are all doing the same workout on the same day and can relate to what we're going through and support each other.
