Precision Nutrition Goes Veggie and Gets Suspended

There are some really cool things happening over on the Precision Nutrition front!

GOING VEGGIE

First, John Berardi, the guy behind Precision Nutrition is going on a 30-day vegetarian muscle-building phase. Yay, John! I’m so psyched that someone of his caliber (AND Tom Venuto in the near future) will be addressing bodybuilding for people on a plant-based diet. I think a lot of myths have been ingrained into society (thanks to the meat industry) about the need for high amounts of animal protein. It’s true that meat contains all the essential amino acids that form protein, but the body has an amino acid pool where it can reserve and draw upon, to get the amino acids it needs to build protein molecules. There was a time when it was believed that vegetarians had to eat complementary foods like rice and beans together for example, to consume complete protein, but that theory has since been blasted! The body is smarter than that and can store amino acids which can be obtained from a purely plant-based diet and build protein as its needed. Where do you suppose those cows everyone is eating for protein get THEIR protein? Personally I prefer to cut out the middleman (or middlecow) and get most of my energy straight from sun foods lately. So I’m so happy John will be conducting this study. He will be doing a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet as he plans on eating eggs and a slice of cheese for breakfast. Looking at his photo, he obviously knows a thing or two about bodybuilding and is someone I trust. Read more about his plan including his measurements, pictures and diet here.

p.s. Late-breaking news! As I was writing this, I read that Craig Ballantyne of Turbulence Training has added three new veggie favorites to his diet: hummus, almond butter and cacao nibs! These are such common raw foodie staples. Too cool, Craig.

GETTING SUSPENDED

Secondly, Precision Nutrition is conducting an informal experiment for 60 willing and able participants to go through a unique training program designed by Alwyn Cosgorve and Fraser Quelch for free! There will be three groups performing different training plans and one of them will be incorporating suspension training. Sounds so cutting edge! This experiment looks really cool. Check it out and if you fit the criteria and are chosen, you get access to a really unique training program, the PN Results Tracker AND you get to be a part of an important study and a better body in 8 weeks I’m sure. Hope someone I know gets in. That would be so much fun to watch and see the results.

    Heya Lilia,

Your local sandgroper mate here ;)

I read all about Precision Nutrition just then. It looks very interesting (since im trying to shred 10kg of pure fat atm). Have you bought the PN System Guide ? Do you know much about it ? Is “just another scam ?”.

I'm interested to know your thoughts.

    Thanks
