Garage Sale Workout

by lilla on September 30, 2008

My sisters and I are having a ‘valuable treasures’ (aka garage) sale this weekend, so I spent most of the day cleaning out my garage. What a workout! I can’t believe how much stuff I threw into boxes and piled into my garage right before I left for Arizona 2 years ago. Tons of junk and it all falls into one of three categories:
1) Wow! I forgot I had this. Cool!
2) Why on earth did I pack and save this!?!
3) Can’t believe I spent hard-earned money on this.

I’ve only owned this condo for 4 years but you would think it was more like decades by the amount of accumulation. I’m going through everything with a vengeance and tossing out or selling 99% of it. I want to downsize my life to the point that all I own can fit into two suitcases. That would be nice!

On the shredding front things have been great. Still doing Warp Speed Fat Loss weight-training (loving it!) plus 4 athletic conditioning classes per week (brutal!) and yoga. I’m focusing more on weights and functional exercise. I really love the athletic conditioning because it raises my heart rate like crazy and makes me sweat! I can feel my upper body and abs getting stronger thanks to the the medicine balls and kettlebells. I dread the class when it starts, but I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot in the end.

  • Hey Lilla, good luck with your garage-sale. I still have boxes of thousands of books in a store-house which i HAVE to take back when I move into a bigger place soon. And your 3 categories of things are exactly the ones I had in my mind when I returned from abroad and opened many of these boxes in my new place.
Good luck and make lots of money out of it!

I know that you will reach the success you want with your training, you are so dedicated.

    :-D

  • Thanks Juli! Hopefully I can make a few dollars this weekend.
  • hey I was wondering how one goes about joining the nike challenge. I don't have a nike plus but do have a pedometer it was suggested to me by Juli to join. looks like things are going good. Grage sales are great one persons junk is another person's treasure. I love watching the shows cash in the attick and bargin hunt. hope you have a good week Angie
  • Hi Angie,
We just started a 3 month Nike+ challenge that ends on Christmas Day. Track your miles, tally them up and let me know how you did at the end of the challenge. Then I'll write a blog post recap and start another challenge!

how long has the current challenge been going on for. I have been keeping track of my miles so just let me know the start date and I can back track. I had pedometer problems for a few days but it is taken care of so will be starting wearing it again tomorrow. If you need anything other then the miles let e know either on my blog or shoot me an email. or message me on skyp.
  • We started on Sept 26 and it runs 90 days until Dec 25th. Definitely backtrack - you've earned those miles!

    Hi Lilla,
I wish you luck with the garage sale....they are such an American institution. Here you never see a garage sale...something about the Spanish idea of new or nothing. Some of my treasures are from the Rastro...centuries old Flea Market here in Madrid. I didn´t realize you were doing so much with conditioning exercises. Good Luck! Know you´ll have a major change-up soon. (Part of that HUGE announcement?)

  • Hi Lynda,
Yes I'm really enjoying the athletic conditioning. It's like going to military bootcamp for an hour! The HUGE announcement might not happen afterall. :(
    Still hopeful though.
