I catered a lunch to be filmed for InStyle Magazine TV yesterday. As I brought out dessert, the film crew turned the camera on me and the interviewer asked me about the dishes I created. I froze and barely whispered what they were - LOL. It's for Korean TV, so hopefully I'll be dubbed. These were taken during a foraging tour with Wildman Steve Brill in Central Park in early April. I've always heard people proclaim that chocolate is high on the ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) scale but I could never really find the proof - until now. I found this study from the USDA that compares the ORAC values of food. The top five per 100 grams in descending order are cloves, cinnamon, oregano, tumeric and cocoa powder. EcoFriendly Glass Drinking Straws

I just got a new glass straw from Glass Dharma. Love it! :) I chose the 8" smoothie size with green decorative dots. The dots are key, so it doesn't roll off the counter and break. The diameter is a roomy 12mm - perfect for my thick smoothies and elixirs. There are several other drinking straw styles, sizes and colors to chose from. Raw Christmas Canapes in July

I just made these little raw canapes last weekend for friends. They were really yummy and cute. Rolling them up and tying them with the chive without tearing it - tricky! I had a few casualties which I had to sacrifice and eat ;) but after the first couple, I had an assembly line going. I think soaking the chives in water helps make it more pliable. Adventures Across Oz – Part 1

Yep I did it. Crossed the continent of Australia from West to East Coast. On the "wrong" side of the road no less. lol. It was easier than I thought. Beautiful Fall Day in the Northeast

What is it about Autumn in the Northeast? There’s just a great feeling to it! The air is a little bit crisp. The leaves are starting to change color.

I really love this time of year here. I get to pull out my old sweaters and warm socks. Have a cup of cocoa or walk to the farmer’s market and see all the pumpkins and melons galore.

Seasons are one of the nicest things about living in NJ. It’s just wasn’t the same when I lived in Arizona or Kauai. Christmas without bundling up or snow on the ground isn’t quite the same. But don’t get me wrong, once the holidays are over, I’m ready to head for warmer climates! LOL. I think I’m susceptible to SAD (seasonal affective disorder.) I need sunshine!!

So today was just a lovely simple day – a nice morning run, a walk around town doing errands, a cup of tea with friends and mom’s famous lentil soup for dinner. It just doesn’t get any better.

Fall and spring are my fa´vourite seasons...I love the smell when I am in the forest or the specific sound when you walk on twigs and leafs on the ground.

Fall weather is so nice, BUT, summer is still King for me. The heat, the smell of hot pine trees, is so fantastic, but so is the smell of wood burning in the fireplace. You are right...so great to have a change of season. Enjoy it this year Lilla!

Oh, yes, this is the time of year that I miss Boston and all of New England...a few more weeks and it will be peak foliage...New Mexico has it's own Fall, with the smell of roasting chili's everywhere and the balloonists early in the ams...nice. Zoey
