Warp Speed Fat Loss Day One

by lilla on September 3, 2008

Today was Day 1 (again) of Warp Speed Fat Loss. Since my gym was closed last week, I really slacked off and did nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada. And to be honest, prior to that, my workouts and yoga have been half-hearted efforts. I think after a year of virtual non-stop training, I reached the dreaded “burn-out” point.

But today was different. I printed out shiny new WSFL workout sheets, forced myself to get up earlier than I have been and had a great workout. Four sets of squats followed by two 10-minute non-stop rounds of supersets. Then I threw in some ab work for good measure, followed by bicycle interval training.

Nutrition was good too. I’ve adapted the WSFL to be 90%ish raw. WSFL is very specific about macronutrient ratios for each day of the week, so it was a little tricky. But I figured out a week’s menu and will just duplicate it for the four weeks - although, I will probably be having a cheat meal on the day that I’m at the Simply Raw Festival, so I’ll see how that goes.

Did some Ashtanga at home (sigh, just not the same as a Mysore class) but it was good. Tomorrow I’m going to a vinyasa class int the morning followed by WSFL Cardio Day 2.

A week off would have done you good! You sound ready to this round of WSFL big time!

I am learning that it is ok to take time off or even have half hearted workouts. the important thing is to not quit! When your body says to take a break, you take a break! Then you come back with a vengence (if anything to make up for lost time. lol). This is a life-long journey we are in. the key is to keep challenging ourselves to be better today than yesterday and better tomorrow than today.

I'm on day 3 of WSFL. So we can keep tabs on each other. I couldn't give my day 3 100% today as I woke up with a headcold. I haven't followed their eating plan though just doing the workouts.

    Hey Lilla,

I agree with Suzette, you've gotta have some time off every so often, to chill relax and really let the body recover. The trick is to get going again after a week or 2 off, you gotta keep going!!!

Are you still training for the half marathon?

    Take care...

Yeah, you're right Mike and Suzette. The trick is not to let that "time off" turn into permanent burn out which I've been guilty of in the past. No "throwing in the towel" this time or ever!

Cool B! Let's keep tabs on each other. Definitely helps to train "alongside" someone else. Sorry to hear about your head cold - that sure doesn't make it fun.
The WSFL nutritition plan is pretty stringent, no? I'm going to try my best to stick to it, except for a scheduled cheat this weekend at the raw festival.

You're right Andrew but sometimes I wish I was one of those lucky genetically gifted people who can eat whatever they want, never workout and still look great. The thought of having to keep up this intensity for the rest of my life isn't a happy one. I guess I just shouldn't project into the future.

Marathon dreams were sidelined when I injured my ankle. I just began jogging lightly again this past weekend.

Glad to see you back on track again. Life is just one get on, get off, but the on´s are so much more agreeable. This time, I wish you all success!
