First Week Recap of Warp Speed Fat Loss

by lilla on August 8, 2008

This was my first week of Warp Speed Fat Loss (WSFL) resistance training and I’m really enjoying it! I could feel the DOMS after day 1, so that tells me it was high time for me to switch up my exercise routine after 7 months of TT.

The WSFL protocol usually start with 3-4 sets of a full body exercise with low reps and 90 second rest period. Then there are two supersets with each pair of exercises done back to back for 10 minutes. This style of training REALLY got my heart rate up. It’s very similar to Crossfit which I like.

On paper, the 10-minute rounds don’t look so tough, but after the first 5-6 minutes of going back and forth between two exercises, those weights start getting very heavy and the 10 minutes couldn’t come soon enough. All in all, I’m enjoying the change to WSFL even if my hammies aren’t. Darn deadlifts!

I’ve yet to start running because I can still feel the weakness in my ankle and I want it to be completely healed before I start hitting the pavement. So all my HIITS have been done on my bike. Just not the same, but it’ll have to suffice for now.

Tomorrow is a cardio only day and hopefully some much needed muscle recovery. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

    Michael,

You're the one that turned me on to Alwyn Cosgrove when you mentioned NROL way back when, so I have you to thank for that. :)

The NROL for Women was surprisingly good too - not watered down. Alwyn is a taskmaster!

Alwyn Cosgrove is the master of programming workouts that build muscle and burn fat. I used "The New Rules of Lifting" for a long time and his workouts were always interesting. I'm glad you are enjoying your new program!

So true Mike. I used to look at the daily Crossfit exercises and think "That's it?" But when you actually DO them, they are tougher than they seem.
I really like the simplicity of the Crossfit workouts which Warp Speed seems to emulate - like doing 10 minute rounds of back-to-back squat press and chin-ups. Tough! Builds muscle AND burns calories at the same time.

WSFL sounds good. Often the ones that look easy on paper are very deceptive in execution.
