Bright and early this morning, I did my final weigh-in: 101 lbs. The last time I weighed this little was over 2 years ago.
I started my Trinity Mission at 105.5lbs, flirted with 107 – 110lbs for most of late June into July and peaked at 110.5lbs after Independence Day weekend. I didn’t take a picture after that weekend because I felt awful. I know it’s hard for people to see differences in other’s body composition, but I totally saw the pudge.
Most of my weight loss came in the last few week when I switched to a high raw food diet. I dropped 9.5 lbs in two weeks! I’m sure some of it must be water weight or the shock of a new diet.
One of the theories behind the benefits of raw food is that you are feeding yourself nutrient-rich and enzyme-rich food. It’s easier to digest and the body is satisfied instead of scavenging for nutrients that might be lacking in a processed food diet, so you have less cravings and eat less. You just can’t fool the wisdom of the body. It knows what it needs and will drive you to seek it out.
I’ve also read that the body will safeguard itself from foreign substances like high fructose corn syrup, GMO foods, hormones from injected animals, trans fats, pesticides, etc. by shuttling it into the fat stores to protect itself. Who knows what’s true! It seems like no one has definitively cracked the human nutrition code. I read a lot of books on nutrition and there are many seemingly different views. Personally, I enjoy a high raw diet so I’m going to stick with it for awhile and see how it goes.
I will be taking a breather between missions and chilling for awhile. Below is a side picture. I’ve never posted a side profile before because I’m self-conscious of my belly pooch but it’s almost gone! Just a little pooch, like a chihuahua maybe and I’m not holding my stomach in at all. Cool!
