210 – I want every day to be "the best day ever"

by lilla on July 13, 2008

As I mentioned yesterday, I’ve decided to go back to a raw food diet for awhile. Mainly because I felt at my peak level of health when I was on it before I took things to an extreme. I really believe there is a body/spirit connection and the less dense the body or “physical matter,” the more in touch I am with my spiritual self. Raw foods is ONE of the components that facilitates that for me.

Before experiencing that heightened level of wellness and spirituality, I would have said I was a pretty healthy individual. But now, having had that experience and the contrast to compare it to and knowing what supreme health feels like for me, it’s hard for me to accept less, even though I have tried to resume a more mainstream lifestyle for the past year.

I’ve been thinking about this decision actually for awhile now, but kept putting it off until the end of each mission. Now I just feel that the time is right. What finally convinced me was watching a web seminar on Thursday given by David Wolfe, one of the leaders in the raw food movement. Back in December 2007, I blogged about the raw chocolate party that I went to in Kauai that he hosted. He also lectures often at the raw food retreat center, Tree of Life in Arizona, where I worked. And I’ve had the honor of being invited to his home on Kauai where this webinar is filmed. Anyway I miss what I know I am missing, so I’m going to take a moderate approach back into a high raw food diet.

Here is a clip of the free webinar from Thursday if you’re interested in checking it out. The live streaming video technology is rough (we lost him a few times) but it was a fun experience with over 500 people pitching questions to David for over 2 hours while he responded on the fly. He touches upon the acid-alkaline balance issue which I think some people were interested in.

David Wolfe is a walking, talking encyclopedia on health and nutrition like no one I have ever met. He tours alot giving free lectures, paid workshops and retreats. If you ever have the opportunity to hear him speak, I would highly encourage it. He is one of those people who is just “electric” when you meet him. He has no filters. He says what he feels and lives in the moment. An extraordinary guy. Here’s a link to learn more about him: The Best Day Ever.

p.s. I’m not advocating or preaching that a raw food diet is for everyone. This is just my experience as I blog honestly about my life. Each individual has to follow their own path and make choices that are most conducive to their life’s experience. :)

Pure Nutrition:

Bodybuilding Strength Training:

Cardio Athletic Training:

Weekly Run Total:

  • Jun 22-28: 18.56mi – 10″30′/mile – 1498 calories
  • Jun 29-Jul5: 17.87mi – 13″16′/mile – 1462 calories
  • Jul 6-12: 26.04mi – 14″15′/mile – 2139 calories

Just walked around town today. I’ve decided to swap 2 of my 3 weekly sprints for bleacher running because the impact of the sprints is aggravating my weak ankle. The bleacher runs are kinder on the ankle but tough on the glutes. Just what I need!
