204 – Navigating the Human Obstacle Course

by lilla on July 6, 2008

Today was slated to be a full and complete rest day. I even forced myself to stay in bed after waking up at 6am because I’m REALLY backed up on quality sleep. Next thing I know it’s 11am. I haven’t slept in for soooo long and it felt great!

I puttered around most of the afternoon. It’s my Eat Stop Eat day so I just wanted to relax and chill out, but the itch to run got the best of me and I headed to the track for a round of 8 sprints followed by some steady-state.

I’m finding that going to the track on weekends is not a good idea. I have to maneuver around strollers, kids on bikes, dog walkers and flying soccer ball missiles. Honestly, except for the soccer balls, I don’t understand why everyone else is on a running track when there are gorgeous paths in this 121-acre park? One of life’s unsolved mysteries.

Today’s Power Song: Say Goodbye by the Dave Matthew’s Band
“So here we are tonight
You and me together
And the storm outside
And the fire’s bright
Oh, and in your eyes
I see what’s on my mind
You’ve got me wild
Turned around inside…”

Good job on sleeping in. It can sometimes be difficult to stay in bed when you are used to getting up early.

“…soccer ball missiles.” Had to laugh at that one, Kali…you are so funny! Hahah!

Good job on the sleep in. It really helps with getting your body “reset” for the week that lies ahead.

    Watch out for the balls!

I love getting congratulated for sleeping in! Must do it more often. ;) Going back to bed.

I laughed when I read your post…yes, you definetly got the running bug, a shameless virus creeping through your being which forces you to run.

Good decision to stay in bed for catching up with sleep.

Have a great start into your new week.

  • DeDe

I have a friend who says, “If you *can* sleep, you *should* sleep.” If your body needs it, obey the need. I got a couple of good naps in this weekend, too. Nappers, unite!

Wow, I feel famous for having been mentioned in Adam’s video. And what a cutie he is! ;-)

You’re right, Juli – it is a virus and it’s spreading! Eek – I’m contagious!

I like your friend, Dede. He/she is quite wise indeed.

You are famous! Join the Shreddersphere by letting Adam know you want to be on.

Adam? Cutie? Well, I guess… if you like the tall, handsome, athletic type. ;D

Sleeping in until 11am? That hasn’t happened in 20 years for me. How I miss those days…
