The summer solstice is a powerful time when seasons meet and change occurs, so it’s apropos that the inaugural World PRW should coincide at this time.
PRWs are the “Powerful Reasons Why” behind our dreams and ambitions. The most motivating PRWs are those that are emotionally charged and get us excited and riled up! These reside deep down in our core, in our bones and in our heart – and spring to life when we are honest about what we TRULY want, no matter how vain or profound those reasons might seem.
Then there are the subtle PRWs that are more mundane and superficial, but still strongly motivate us along our path.
Below are my powerful and subtle reasons why.
Powerful Reasons Why:
Health – I want to be supremely healthy and feel amazing physically every day: strong, flexible, agile, energetic and light!
Vanity – I want to be attractive, beautiful, radiant, magnetic, stunning, etc. Sound familiar? See my bio.
I want to wear smaller sizes and like what I see in the mirror. I want other people to admire my physique.
Self Confidence – I’m more outgoing and relaxed “in my skin” when I’m fit. When I feel comfortable with the way I look, I’m less inhibited and more free. I like letting myself “be me” and not censoring my words or actions, and this becomes increasingly more natural and automatic when I’m confident in who I am.
Spirituality – The physical body is made up of condensed matter and the lighter the “matter” becomes, then the faster the conduit and the greater the vibrational energy felt. Even though scientists can’t prove it on x-rays or autopsies, I strongly believe that we each have a “subtle” body. And the closer we come to optimum health physically – the healthier we eat, the purer our thoughts and intentions, the more “translucent” and unblocked the body – then the greater the ability to feel the ecstasy of the universal spirit and energy that animates us all.
And now my day-to-day reasons why…
Subtle Motivating Reasons Why:
- To be able to keep logging PB (personal bests) on my workout logs i.e. more reps, heavier weights
- To surpass my fastest 5K run each time
- To compete with other people’s fastest runs or most miles logged on Nike+.com
- To win the Turbulence Training contest
- To return to my former level of Ashtanga yoga proficiency
- To redeem myself in South Beach after lapsing on my Beach Body Shred
- To carve a little niche for myself in the fitness industry that would allow me to live this lifestyle and make a living doing something I enjoy
Thanks to Debbie: Can We Talk Blog for her wonderful PRW Day idea and to Adam Waters: RTP 2.0 Blog for conceiving the idea of PRWs in the first place. And also big thanks to all the Shredders out there for your continual support and for sharing so much of yourselves every day.
