Thanks everyone for your comments to yesterday’s post. It seems like self-sabotage and the “all or nothing” mentality can be quite common. And a physique transformation is just one way this “mind games” can manifest, often becoming a metaphor or a reflection of other areas of our lives.
I think Bob came very close to the reason why I self-sabotage myself. It’s a fear of rebounding back to my highest (or even a higher) weight. My weight has yoyo-ed four major times in my life. Each time I hit my lowest weight, I swore I would never go back to being fat. But sure enough, each time I would gain the weight back and then some. Subconsciously, I think I’m scared to hit my goal weight because history has taught me that I can’t maintain it and I will balloon back up. So instead, I’m just treading around this 103-108lb safety zone but never really feeling satisfied with my physique.
