Oops! Forgot to post the weekly Precision Nutrition tip on Monday, so here it is on a slight delay.

Tip #3: Fish Oil Rules
by Dr. John Berardi of Precision Nutrition
I consider fish oil to be an essential supplement for fat loss. Data from the University of Western Ontario shows that fish oil supplementation increases lean body mass (during non-dieting conditions), increases BMR (by up to 400kcal/day), decreases inflammation, and improves the ratio of fat/carb oxidized (sparing carbs, burning fat). Recommended dose: Start with 6-10g per day of total fish oil (assuming 30% EPA and DHA).

I’m curious to see who out there includes fish oil in their diet. Fish and eggs are my main source of protein and I also have a teaspoon of Udo’s Oil every day, so I don’t take fish oil supplements. Drop me a comment and let me know if you do and what you think about the claimed benefits. Have you noticed any improvement in metabolism, hair, skin, etc.?

So sorry not to be able to get to everyone’s blog as much as I used to. Not having internet access at home has made it difficult. If all goes well tomorrow though, I should be broadcasting from Lilla HQ Central once again. Yay – no more being the last one out of the library! It doesn’t make one very popular when one keeps employees from going home at 9pm sharp. I tried to explain the urgency of the Council requirements but they just stared at me blankly. Some people just don’t “get it.” ;)

Hi! I go with flax oil but haven’t really noticed a difference either way. Of course I’m not always good about remembering to take it…

I take about 6g of Salmon Oil a day. I cycled off of it for about 2 weeks and I noticed a difference in small things with recovery and muscle soreness. I don’t know about upping the metabolism though mine generally sits around 1690 whether I’m on or off fish oils.

Hi! I’ve been taking fish oil for a while now, three in the am and three pm. I have had a lot of problems this year with thyroid and adrenals, so my metabolism has been wonky, to say the least. I can’t really say how, but I do feel better with the fish oil. I do think it’s helped to retain a shred of metabolic activity. I’m going to increase the dose now, after reading this, so that eventually I take 10 a day. I guess I’ll have to wait til my health is stable to really see if it helps.. but I’d say the oil, staying very active, and keeping a clean diet have helped me to not gain weight during this time…

I use Udos but not fish oil. I personally have found that the Udos has helped my joints alot. I used to get really sore joints after lifting, but since taking my Udos regularly that hasn’t happened.

I have tried Udos, but it is really expensive down here! I take fish oil caps (3 morning/3 night).

I haven’t done any oil stuff. My sister tries to “get” it when I get home, but I think she’s just humoring me. Better than blank stares though. :)

Look at the score! Over 95%! Wow!!

I take 2.5g of PGFO fish oil daily (each is 400mg EPA, 200mg DHA). I noticed a difference in mood and mental clarity

Hey, wait for me…..I do take fish oil, but can´t tell if it helps or not. Have read it does wonders for weight loss, so put them on my have-to-have list. Only glitch is that have to order from the US. Not easy or cheap. They sure better show something very outstanding and fast!
