Video: The Tastebud Threshold

by lilla on April 3, 2008

The “Beat Hump Day Slump and Get Pumped” video series is unofficially back! I’m still settling into my condo so I’m not up to speed yet, but I will try to post videos on Wednesdays whenever possible.

Today’s video features another one of hobbies – preparing recipes! Most of my original recipes are either raw, vegan or vegetarian. I received my Living Foods Certification in 2005 from Ann Wigmore Natural Health Institute in Puerto Rico, and in 2006 I worked for the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center in Arizona where I took extensive food prep classes.

The video featured today is extreme by most people’s standards, but I credit it for being one of the reasons I haven’t had a cold or flu in over 5 years! Some of the key ingredients include:

Ginger root: An anti-inflammatory food with active phytochemicals called gingerols.
Garlic: Contains the antibacterial sulphur-bearing compound called allicin.
Udo’s Oil: Healthy balance of omega-6 fatty acids and omega-3 fatty acids.
Spinach: Excellent source of beta carotene, vitamin C and the phytochemical lutein and lipoic acid.
Egg whites: High source of protein and complete amino acid profile.

Hope you enjoy it and the special secret guest appearance!

And now for the small print disclaimer:

    Great video, Lilla!

I might have tried it if I had not seen Adam’s reaction! lol

Haha – the “drama king” is going to mess up my chances at recipe book publishing deal! No wonder Random House hasn’t called me yet.

  • Suzette

lol on the comments. that was a great video!

  • Lilla

Thanks Suzette! If you try it, go easy on the garlic & ginger and add a little extra grapefruit on the first go.
The one Adam is drinking is MY “strong” version that I gave to him to taste but he ended up drinking it! I was planning on making him a milder version first. His vid was so funny though, I just had to post it.

ha ha ha classic! That Adam’s such a ham :)

Great video Lilla! Recipe looks good and the best bit was Adam’s reaction!

  • Lilla

Yeah, he is a hambone for sure!

“Drive through the pain barrier” – sounds like my smoothie was more intense than the quad blaster!

Haha, it got better as I continued! Awesome brekkie food Lilla!

I just tried your recipe tonight. I’ve been on a big grapefruit kick so I couldn’t wait to try. I had to substitute ground flax seeds for the Udos and add some vanilla protein powder, but I liked it. It was really filling. I especially liked the grapefruit, ginger and garlic combination (along with everything else). I think I’ll try roasting the garlic first next time to sweeten it up a bit. But this was a fun adventure. Thank you!

YAY – VINDICATED! Thank you Dede for your review!! :)

    Iargh!
    I just made this.
I even went to buy a blender so I could mix it all together.
I don’t have any sweeteners so it’s really strong stuff ;)

I feel it’s already kicking the fly out of my body :p
    Thanks for the recipe :)

You’re welcome! A little extra grapefruit helps take out the “sting” if you don’t have a sweetener. :)
