These were taken during a foraging tour with Wildman Steve Brill in Central Park in early April. I've always heard people proclaim that chocolate is high on the ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) scale but I could never really find the proof - until now. I found this study from the USDA that compares the ORAC values of food. The top five per 100 grams in descending order are cloves, cinnamon, oregano, tumeric and cocoa powder. EcoFriendly Glass Drinking Straws

I just got a new glass straw from Glass Dharma. Love it! :) I chose the 8" smoothie size with green decorative dots. The dots are key, so it doesn't roll off the counter and break. The diameter is a roomy 12mm - perfect for my thick smoothies and elixirs. There are several other drinking straw styles, sizes and colors to chose from. I just made these little raw canapes last weekend for friends. They were really yummy and cute. Rolling them up and tying them with the chive without tearing it - tricky! I had a few casualties which I had to sacrifice and eat ;) but after the first couple, I had an assembly line going. I think soaking the chives in water helps make it more pliable. Adventures Across Oz – Part 1

Yep I did it. Crossed the continent of Australia from West to East Coast. On the "wrong" side of the road no less. lol. It was easier than I thought. Day 87 – My "Before" Shorts

Yay! I was able to sell so much of my stuff this past weekend during my moving sale. All the furniture is sold and I’ve packed two boxes ready to ship home. But the one thing I REALLY wanted to sell, didn’t – my car. So now it looks like I’ll have to ship it to the Mainland.

As I was going through my closet, I came across some old clothing that doesn’t fit me anymore. Here is a picture of a pair shorts that I practically lived in this past summer because I refused to buy any more big clothes. These shorts are a size 8-10! I used to wear a size 0-1. I wish I had some before pics, but as is typical when one is overweight, the last thing you want is to be captured on film.

However, my Rubenesque period may be immortalized for the whole world to see on the silver screen soon. I was an extra in a yet-to-be-named movie that was being filmed here on Kauai last year. This was during the peak of my blubberhood, so my cellulite might be captured on celluloid after all and projected many times it’s size. Great.

Part of me wants to be in the movie so I can have a before image and the other part of me hopes I end up on the cutting room floor.

Yeah, it's surreal to think that I used to fill these shorts out AND they were getting tight! Yikes! Now if I don't hold them, they fall in a puddle around my ankles.

I donated ALL my big clothing this weekend because I don't want a "fall back" wardrobe.
